Children's Choir Schedule 2024-2025

What is children's choir at Holy Comforter?

This choir is offered for children in rising 1st-5th grades, and it helps children find their singing voices in the context of a group of other children.

When does it meet?

Children's Choir meets weekly for thirty minutes during the program year (early September 2024 through early June 2025) on Wednesdays at 5:15pm, prior to Community Dinner at 5:45pm.

What are the goals of the children's choir program?

We learn music appropriate for singing in church (and the choir sings in church about once a month), and we learn a lot about the stories of the Bible through the lens of traditional Episcopal worship. Some basic reading proficiency is necessary, although much of the music is taught in a "call and response" style at first.

What are the expectations of children and their parents who participate in the program?

Parents should understand that a commitment to weekly rehearsals is expected (much like a sports team or other extra-curricular activity). All interested children are welcomed! Contact Patrick Pope at patrickp@holycomfortercharlotte.org for more information about this opportunity.

Holy Comforter is proud of our groundbreaking Hispanic Ministries programs. We take a three-pronged approach to serving the educational, spiritual and day-to-day needs of our area Hispanic population by offering English as a Second Language (ESL) Classes, a La Misa Sunday afternoon service, and a dual language preschool.

The Holy Comforter Foundation is charged with granting money to further the mission and ministry of the church, outside the annual operating budget, and separate from capital campaigns. Currently the Foundation manages two funds - the Mission and Ministry Fund and the Building and Grounds Fund.

Capital campaigns are conducted every few years to fund major and long-term expenses and capital investments in the church. Our most recent capital campaign, Making Room for the Spirit, was completed in 2018 and successfully raised over $1.2 million to renovate the Atkinson building, reduce debt, purchase the property next door at 2729 Park Road, and conduct strategic site planning for the future.
