Friday Films | Holy Comforter Charlotte

Join us this summer for some thought-provoking, faith-related movies and discussion on three Friday evenings (6:30 – 9:00 pm, in Henry Hall at Holy Comforter**). Admission is free, popcorn, lemonade and movie candy are provided!

Summer 2024 line-up:

Aug 9 (Note new date): “The Antidote”, a documentary weaving together stories of kindness, decency, and the power of love to transform lives (unrated, 2020) - not to be confused with the 2021 horror flick “Antidote” Sign up here for (optional) PIZZA ($10 per 12” pie) and plan to arrive at 6 pm to eat before the movie.

Childcare can be provided but requires reservation 3 days in advance to ensure we have our certified Safe-Church sitters on hand (bilingual English-Spanish). Sign up here for childcare.

Folding chairs will be set up, or feel free to bring a beach/camping chair or blanket. We look forward to seeing you there!

** Holy Comforter Episcopal Church, 2701 Park Rd, Charlotte, NC 28209. Enter the parking lot from Salem Drive. Henry Hall is inside the “Atkinson” building adjacent to the church itself, and is accessible from the parking lot.

Holy Comforter is proud of our groundbreaking Hispanic Ministries programs. We take a three-pronged approach to serving the educational, spiritual and day-to-day needs of our area Hispanic population by offering English as a Second Language (ESL) Classes, a La Misa Sunday afternoon service, and a dual language preschool.

Not limited to math, or our understanding of the universe. That infinite grace, unlimited love is free to everyone. That is real power. Your annual pledge goes to fund the operating budget of the church which makes it possible to share God’s love through our many ministries.

The Holy Comforter Foundation is charged with granting money to further the mission and ministry of the church, outside the annual operating budget, and separate from capital campaigns. Currently the Foundation manages two funds - the Mission and Ministry Fund and the Building and Grounds Fund.

Capital campaigns are conducted every few years to fund major and long-term expenses and capital investments in the church. Our most recent capital campaign, Making Room for the Spirit, was completed in 2018 and successfully raised over $1.2 million to renovate the Atkinson building, reduce debt, purchase the property next door at 2729 Park Road, and conduct strategic site planning for the future.
